I have no idea because I haven't used 3Ds or Maya into an extent where I'm making something. All you really have to be is creative anyway. The softwares essentially do the same thing: make 3D objects. There will be obvious differences in several features, differences in how you deal with objects, of course different interface. But if you strip the softwares to a bare minimum they're basically the same thing. Some may argue that Maya is strongly for movie productions while 3Ds is for games. However, I wouldn't say that because they equally have the same purpose.
Voyager is NOT REALLY a 3D software. More of a generative program so it doesn't even fit the 3Ds and Maya category.
